How to read today's IPO calendar
Each issue moves through a fixed sequence: subscription opens, it closes, shares are allotted, refunds are processed and the stock lists. Mainboard IPOs list on NSE and BSE; SME IPOs list on the SME platforms with larger minimum lot sizes and lower liquidity, which makes them riskier for small investors.
Apply through ASBA via your bank or UPI through your broker; the money is blocked, not debited, until allotment. If you are not allotted, the block is released.
Our approach to IPOs
A new listing is simply a company you have less information about than a listed peer. That is not a reason to avoid IPOs, but it is a reason to demand a valuation discount. Treat oversubscription numbers as a measure of excitement, not quality, and read the risk factors section of the prospectus — it is where companies disclose what can go wrong.
What to watch
- • Check subscription across QIB, NII and retail books — QIB demand on the final day is usually the most informative.
- • Read the price band against listed peers on earnings, not on grey market chatter.
