What moves this price

  • Global spot gold (COMEX) prices, which set the benchmark before Indian duties and taxes.
  • The rupee–dollar exchange rate: a weaker rupee lifts the domestic gold rate even when global gold is flat.
  • Import duty and GST, which sit on top of the landed cost of bullion.
  • US real interest rates and Fed policy expectations — gold competes with bond yields.
  • Festive and wedding-season jewellery demand in India, plus central-bank buying.

Frequently asked questions

What is the gold rate today in India?

MCX front-month gold futures are trading at ₹1,52,400.00 per 10 grams for 24K gold, down 0.89% (−₹1,363.00) from the previous close. That works out to about ₹15,240.00 per gram for 24K and ₹13,959.84 per gram for 22K, before jeweller making charges and GST.

Why is the jeweller's gold price higher than this rate?

The futures rate is a wholesale bullion price. Retail jewellery adds 3% GST, making or wastage charges (typically 8–20% depending on the design) and hallmarking fees, so the billed price per gram is always above the market rate.

How much will 10 grams of physical gold cost me today?

For a 22K plain jewellery piece, budget the metal value (about ₹1,39,598 for 10 g) plus roughly 10% making charges and GST at 3% on metal and 5% on making — the physical retail table above works this out line by line for coins, bars, chains and studded jewellery.

What is the difference between 24K, 22K and 18K gold?

24K is 99.9% pure gold and is used for coins and bars. 22K is 91.6% pure (the standard for Indian jewellery) and 18K is 75% pure, alloyed for strength in studded and lightweight designs. Prices scale with purity, which is how the table above is derived.

How often does this gold rate update?

Every minute during MCX trading hours (9:00 am to 11:30/11:55 pm IST, Monday to Friday). Outside those hours the page shows the last traded price.

Prices are MCX front-month futures via Upstox, refreshed every minute during market hours. Retail rates differ after GST, making charges and dealer margins. For information only, not investment advice.
