Zen Technologies Q1FY27 Results: Profit Falls 40% Despite Strong ₹1,239 Crore Order Book

Zen Technologies Limited, one of India's leading defence technology and military training simulation companies, announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 (Q1FY27). The company reported a softer quarter with declines in revenue and profitability compared to the same period last year.

While quarterly earnings came under pressure due to slower execution and a one-time exceptional loss, the company's long-term outlook remains positive, supported by a healthy order book of ₹1,239.02 crore, continued defence modernization in India, and growing demand for indigenous defence technologies.

Q1FY27 Financial Highlights

Revenue from Operations

Zen Technologies reported Revenue from Operations of ₹141.64 crore during Q1FY27.

This represents a 10.5% decline year-on-year, compared with ₹158.22 crore reported in Q1FY26.

The decline mainly reflects slower execution of projects during the quarter. Management expects revenue growth to improve as existing defence contracts move into the execution phase.

Total Income

The company's Total Income stood at ₹160.79 crore, compared with ₹180.01 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

This represents a 10.7% YoY decline.

Net Profit (PAT)

Zen Technologies reported Consolidated Net Profit of ₹31.85 crore during Q1FY27.

This marks a 40% decline YoY, compared with ₹53.07 crore in Q1FY26.

Profit attributable to shareholders of the company stood at ₹34.46 crore during the quarter. Lower revenue and an exceptional loss impacted overall profitability.

Profit Before Tax (PBT)

Profit Before Tax stood at ₹45.26 crore, down from ₹76.21 crore in Q1FY26.

The decline primarily reflects slower revenue recognition and exceptional expenses recorded during the quarter.

Earnings Per Share (EPS)

Basic and Diluted EPS came in at ₹3.83, compared with ₹5.31 in the same quarter last year.

Exceptional Loss During the Quarter

One of the major reasons for the decline in profitability was an exceptional loss of ₹3.37 crore.

The loss resulted from a fire incident at Unistring Tech Solutions Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zen Technologies, on 25 April 2026.

The company clarified that

  • The damaged inventory is adequately insured.
  • The insurance survey is currently in progress.
  • The financial impact is expected to be recovered through insurance claims.

This indicates that the incident is considered a one-time event rather than an operational weakness.

Strong Order Book Supports Long-Term Growth

Despite weaker quarterly earnings, Zen Technologies continues to maintain a healthy order pipeline.

As of 30 June 2026, the company reported a consolidated order book of ₹1,239.02 crore.

At the standalone level, the order book stood at ₹1,138.76 crore.

A strong order backlog provides

  • Better revenue visibility.
  • Long-term earnings potential.
  • Improved business stability.
  • Strong execution opportunities over the coming quarters.

Corporate Announcements

Along with its financial results, the Board approved several important corporate decisions.

The company appointed Mr. Jasthi Krishna Kishore as an Additional Director and Non-Executive Independent Director for a three-year term, subject to shareholder approval.

The Board also approved the re-appointment of Mrs. Shilpa Choudari as Whole-Time Director for another three-year term effective from 1 November 2026, subject to shareholder approval.

Additionally, the company extended the timeline for utilizing the unutilized balance of Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) proceeds by 24 months, up to 22 August 2028, without changing the original objectives of the issue.
